There is a lot of research on cell-based models for animal and plant tissues, using different ways to represent cells in space, physical interactions between cells, and intra- and inter-cellular signalling. We need ways to share and compare such models. The purpose of this workshop is to discuss methods for multicellular modelling, and in particular for exchanging and curating such models.
This will include concepts of embedding of one model within another (e.g. a model of intracellular signalling embedded within a set of cells) and the creation/deletion of entities/variables as part of the simulation (e.g. allowing cell division and death). An important aspect of this meeting would be to establish a set of test cases and how to share them and implement them on different platforms.
